: Shown are the preparations for cutting ice on the Merrimack River, at a location very close to our building, c. 1890. Ice was once a major commodity exported from Lawrence to other states and countries. The dark buildings are ice houses where ice is stored in sawdust right through summer months.

Our History & Heritage

Our ice business has a rich heritage dating from the 19th century. Formerly named Everpure Ice Company, The Boston Ice Company, Bresnahan Ice Company, and now Lawrence Ice and Propane, the ice business is still going strong at the same location of 637 Andover Street after many decades of continuous operation. We welcome ice and propane customers to our historic location!
