Our History & Heritage
Lawrence Ice and Propane has roots going back to the 19th century, when ice harvesting was a major industry along the Merrimack River right here in Lawrence. Workers would cut ice from the river each winter, store it in sawdust-insulated ice houses, and ship it to customers across the country and beyond.
Over the generations our business has operated under several names – Everpure Ice Company, The Boston Ice Company, and Bresnahan Ice Company – but we’ve never left. We’re still going strong at the same location, 637 Andover Street, serving the community we’ve called home for well over a century.
What We Offer
Today we serve both walk-in customers and businesses with the same products that have kept Lawrence cool for generations:
- Ice – available by the bag for home, events, and commercial use, with delivery available
- Dry Ice – perfect for shipping, catering, and special events
- Propane – refills and exchanges, whether you need to fuel the backyard grill or a commercial operation
We’re open to the public and always happy to see walk-in customers.
