Bubble, Bubble, Drinks Worth the Trouble: 6 Dry Ice Drink Recipes for Halloween

By Lia Marchand | October 14, 2026

We covered the safety rules. Now for the fun part. These six dry ice drinks bring the fog, the bubbles, and the “whoa” moment to any Halloween party. Half are family-friendly, half are for the grown-ups, and all of them look like they came straight out of a cauldron.

Quick Refresher Before You Pour

  • Handle dry ice with tongs or gloves, never bare hands.
  • Use one large pellet per glass so it sinks and stays put.
  • Wait until the bubbling stops completely before sipping.

Family-Friendly

Witch’s Brew Punch
Serves a crowd

  • 1 gallon apple cider
  • 1 liter ginger ale
  • 2 cups cranberry juice
  • Sliced apples and oranges

Mix everything in a large punch bowl. For fog, nest the punch bowl inside a bigger bowl with a little warm water and add dry ice to the outer bowl. The fog will spill over the edges and the punch never touches the ice.

Midnight Lemonade
Serves 1

  • 6 oz lemonade
  • 2 oz brewed butterfly pea flower tea, chilled
  • Lemon wedge

Fill a glass with lemonade, then slowly pour the tea over the top. Watch it shift from deep blue to purple. Add one pellet of dry ice for a smoky finish.

Swamp Water
Serves 1

  • 6 oz lemon-lime soda
  • 1 oz pineapple juice
  • Splash of blue sports drink
  • Gummy worms

Stir the soda, juice, and sports drink together for a murky green color. Hang gummy worms over the rim and add dry ice. Kids love this one.

For the Grown-Ups

Cauldron Cider Cocktail
Serves 1

  • 1.5 oz bourbon or spiced rum
  • 4 oz apple cider
  • Squeeze of lemon
  • Cinnamon stick

Add liquid ingredients to a rocks glass, stir, and add a pellet of dry ice. Garnish with the cinnamon stick once the fog settles.

Poison Apple Martini
Serves 1

  • 1.5 oz vodka
  • 1 oz sour apple schnapps
  • 1 oz cranberry juice
  • Thin apple slice

Shake the vodka, schnapps, and cranberry juice with regular ice, then strain into a martini glass. Add a small pellet of dry ice with tongs. The deep red color plus the smoke makes this one a showstopper.

Black Magic Margarita
Serves 1

  • 2 oz tequila
  • 1 oz lime juice
  • 0.75 oz orange liqueur
  • Few drops of black food coloring
  • Black salt or black sugar for the rim

Rim the glass, shake the tequila, lime, orange liqueur, and coloring with regular ice, and strain. Drop in dry ice and let it bubble.

How Much Dry Ice Do You Need?

Plan on one pellet per individual drink, plus a few pounds for a fog bowl. Dry ice disappears over time, so pick it up the day of your party and keep it in a cooler with the lid resting loosely on top.
